Roll of Honour (Church School)

On March 21st 1921 the County Express reported the unveiling of the Cradley Church School Memorial. The unveiling had taken place on March 19th with the County Express reporting that the County Council had provided an oak tablet with three panels containing the names of the fallen. The Rev R A Norris led the ceremony and Joseph Jaquiss, head teacher and District Scout Leader, read out the names of 60 scholars and unveiled the memorial.

However, there are only 53 names on the actual memorial.   The additional seven names that were read out that are not on the memorial are Harry Cook, William Fowkes, Alfred Kirton, Joseph Parsons, David Reynolds, George Sidaway and Bert Wallace.

Although the wooden plaque on the wall of the assembly hall at the school has the names of 53 former scholars there are only 44 who are named on the Cradley Memorial.
